BAUDELAIRE
Progressive y Tech House

BIOGRAPHY

Tomas Baudelaire was born in the province of Córdoba in central Argentina, where a small hidden electronic music record store changed his approach to music. Already a fan of Talking Heads, Joy Division and 808 State among other avant-garde bands, Tom decided to explore a more contemporary side of music and he discovered many new sounds: Swayzak, Oliver Hacke, Richie Hawtin, Herbert, Richard Davis, The Timewriter, Jeff Mills, Rework, Monolake, the acid sound of Josh Wink and Green Velvet to name a few.

Soon it dawned on him that he had a boundless passion for music. Little by little, he started playing at several clubs of the Cordoba’s scene where he had the chance to keep/take a closer look at many of his mentors (like Simbad) at work, and in no time he decided to get down to business with his exile plans.

He moved to Buenos Aires by himself and shortly after got a job at an international music publishing company (CCCI Productions).

Little by little he began mingling with musicians like him on the underground scene of the Argentine metropolis. In 2004, together with his friend and colleague Matias Brown, he began playing regularly at Jackos Club —where he still preforms— as well as djing at the massive Smiley parties and in many clubs of Buenos Aires like Thelonius, Kim & Novak.

Regarding his musical production, he has just signed with Pissed Off records, and his work has been supported by Hernan Cattaneo, Deep Mariano, MOS and many other important Djs. Boasting a richness of elements with a smart fusion of minimal, funk, techno and House, Baudelaire defines a whole new underground concept of old school Techno.

With Hernan Cattaneo has his main reference and admiring the old-school of likes of Larry Levan, Jeff Mills, Derrick May, Soul II Soul and its evolution by Plastikman, Alexander Coe (Sasha), Daft Punk, John Digweed, Faithless, Sven Vath, James Holden, Nathan Fake, Deep Dish and the German and British avant-garde front, Baudelaire defines a whole new concept of old-school techno with an intelligent fusion of minimal, funk, techno and house.
