MARCELO FRATINI Progressive Trance & Electro BIOGRAPHY Born on January 30th, 1978, in Florida, Buenos Aires, Marcelo Fratini did not imagine, being as young as 8, music would have such an important rol in his life while hours in front of a wincophone that was at his house listening to funk, disco, italodisco and house records from the eighties which down the line would take him to grow an interest in being a Dj. In 1990, he started helping a friend at various private parties that were helf across west Buenos Aires, and he also began working as an asistant at a local radio station, on FM Norte, that played the dance music of the time. This is how in 1993 he had his first contact with the turntables at a school party and from then on he became instrumental in the parties that his friend used to organise. At that time, he didn't wonna take it as a hobby but as a future profession as what he felt when seeing people dance to the music he played was indescribable. By late 97 he began listening to styles like progressive and trance which he immediately adopted. Artists like Paul Oakenfold, Paul van Dyk, Ferry Corsten and Armin van Buuren helped further his interest in trance, as well as his appreciation of djs with a more progressive feel like Markus Schulz, Mark Otten, Perry o' Neil and Matthew Dekay. With the arrival of rave parties, he began getting into de scene and listening to new styles and local djs like The Urban Groove, Aldo Haydar, Diego Ro-K, Cristóbal Paz, Carlos Alfonsín and Hernán Cattaneo, who were of great help in increasing his knowledge both technical and musically. In 2005, due to the closure of most clubs he organised and took part of a series of outdoors parties that were held in Del Viso, Ezeiza, Ku club, Middawn, Arkos de Palermo and Clubzone, the electronic music sector of La Diosa complex in northern Buenos Aires. Along his career he has shared the booth with djs like Luis Callegari, Tommy Jacobs, Javier Beltran, Diego Ro-k, JP Sagalia, Gonzalo Solimano, Carlos Shaw, Heatbeat, Dario EF, Gabriel Modica (aka Detune), Roman Elmo, Mikki Del Roio, Luck Duck Djs, Roi Sterdam, High Frequenzy, Exit, Threshold, Overon (UK) and Ronski Speed (Ger.) among others. By late 2006 and early 2007 he began performing at the yearly Smiley Outdoor parties that drew more than 2,000 people in each one of its editions. Currently he has a weekly slot at the Trance Xss nights at Bahrein on Fridays, one of the most reknowned clubs in Buenos Aires. |
